Week 3: Mental & Physical Wealth
August 20 & 23, 2026
Stewarding our body is an act of worship.
Real rest recognizes that I am human and not God.
The direction of my life is deeply connected to what is happening in my mind.
Biblical mental health brings what isn’t okay into the presence of God.
Thoughts become beliefs, that become patterns, that become actions, that eventually shape our lives.
“Much of our unhappiness comes because we spend too much time listening to ourselves instead of talking to ourselves.” - Martin Lloyd-Jones
Mental wealth is having a mind anchored to truth.
We don’t just receive peace… we have to practice peace.
One of the greatest things we can do for our mental health is develop a deep, consistent relationship with God’s Word.
[d]Group Questions
Read Romans 12:1–2. What does this passage teach us about stewardship rather than obsession?
Read Psalm 42:5–6 and Philippians 4:6–9. Notice how both passages show someone actively responding to what is happening inside their mind. What practices do these passages give us for dealing with discouragement, anxiety, or unhealthy thought patterns?
Is there a lie you tend to listen to that you need to start answering with God’s truth?
What is one practical way you could better offer either your body or your mind to God this week?
Read Matthew 11:28–30. What would it practically look like for you to bring your mental, emotional, or physical weariness to Jesus rather than trying to carry it yourself?
Prayer Prompt
Ask God to show you where your body needs better stewardship, your mind needs renewed truth, or your soul needs deeper surrender. Then pray specifically for one another—that God’s truth would reshape your thinking, His wisdom would guide how you care for your body, and His presence would give you the rest and peace Jesus promises.
