March 12 & 15

  • John 14:15-18

  • The Holy Spirit is the very personal presence of Jesus with His people.

  • John 14:26

  • The Holy Spirit is who takes knowledge of truth and turns it into revelation.

  • John 15:16

  • The Holy Spirit always points people to Jesus…He always glorifies Christ.

  • The Holy Spirit convicts the heart.

  • John 16:8, 13-15

  • The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth.

  • If we want to hear the Holy Spirit speak, we have to turn down the volume of the other voices.

  • John 16:7

  • The Holy Spirit is who gives power to the Christian life.

  • John 15:4-5

  • It is the Holy Spirit who empowers the mission of Jesus Christ.

  • God never asks us to do something that He does not also empower us to do through the Holy Spirit.

[d]Group Questions

  1. Read John 14:16-18 together. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would continue His ministry among His followers. What part of the Holy Spirit’s work that we talked about this weekend stood out to you the most—teaching, reminding, pointing us to Jesus, convicting, guiding, or empowering? Why?

  2. Read John 14:26 together. Jesus says the Holy Spirit “teaches” and “reminds” us of His words. Have you ever had a moment where a verse, truth, or conviction came to your mind at exactly the right time? What happened?

  3. We talked about how thousands of voices compete for our attention every day. What are some of the “loud voices” in your life right now that make it harder to hear the Holy Spirit? What might it look like this week to turn the volume down on those?

  4. Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
Where in your life right now do you most need the Holy Spirit’s power—not just your own effort?

Prayer Prompt

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit to quiet the noise in our lives so we can recognize His voice.

  2. Ask Him to bring Scripture to mind and guide us toward Jesus this week.

  3. Ask for His power to help us obey whatever He shows us.
