God Of Days: Sabbath

July 31 & August 3

  • Sabbath is a weekly rhythm where God's people were commanded and invited to cease from work, to rest, remember their dependence on Him, and enjoy His presence.

  • When was the last time you felt rested, refreshed, and connected to God?

  • Matthew 11:28-30

  • Mark 2:27

  • Our problem is that we haven’t taken rest and sabbath seriously.

  • Rest and sabbath are an invitation for your heart and soul.

  • Exodus 20:8-11

  • Sabbath reminds us that we are not in control.

  • Sabbath reminds us that we are not loved based on what we do but on who we are.

  • Deuteronomy 5:12-15

  • The invitation to rest also includes an invitation to enjoy.

  • Walter Brueggemann, Sabbath as Resistance*
