This course is designed to equip followers of Christ with the ability to apply the gospel in personal and specific ways to the heart and struggles of others. We will address both the theology and practice of gospel-centered discipleship. Participants will be prepared to minister effectively to individuals, couples, and families with a biblical perspective on change in the context of community. Issues such as addictions, anxiety, anger, depression will be covered.

Orientation is July 30 at either 9:00am or 6:00pm in the Fish Bowl.
Personal Enrichment
Participants who would like to take this course for the sake of personal enrichment can apply directly with Southern Hills. With this option, you will not be required to complete assignments or exams, while still gaining the beneficial teaching in the area of Biblical Counseling.
There is a $85 fee paid to Southern Hills to cover course materials.

ABC Level 1 Certification Track
Participants in the track will be eligible for certification upon completion of the course and all course materials. Those who receive certification have the opportunity to apply to volunteer in the Southern Hills Soul Care ministry.
Those interested in receiving certification will need to apply directly by July 21 with the Association of Biblical Counseling, to which there is a $25 application fee. There is a $85 fee paid to Southern Hills to cover course materials. Non-Southern Hills Members will also be required to pay the $290 tuition & $69 ABC membership due by August 7.
Class Attendance
Course participants are expected to attend the weekly class periods in order to receive certification. Missed lectures and assignments must be made-up. Since the classes will include teaching, group discussions, case studies, role-plays, and tests, it is important for course participants to be present if they intend to master the material.
Soul Care Practicum
During the second semester/half of training, course participants will be asked to disciple an individual, couple, or family of the participant’s choice for 10 weeks. The person discipled may be anyone from the course participant’s life (except for family).
Reading and Journal
Soul Care articles and supplemental reading assignments will accompany each chapter of the training. Course participants are asked to read the appropriate articles before each class in order to enhance student understanding of the material.

Equipped to Counsel is an introductory course to Biblical Counseling. Participants in the class will be eligible to complete Level 1 ABC Certification upon completion of the course and all course materials.
