Week 2: Grace From Start to Finish
September 10 & 13, 2026
You don’t graduate from grace.
Remember how you started.
Paul isn’t arguing against obedience…but he’s arguing against obedience as our acceptance with God.
Remember what Jesus did.
Galatians 3:6-8
From the beginning, God was working toward Jesus. The law wasn’t given to save us, but to show us that we needed saving.
Rules can change behavior temporarily, but Jesus changes hearts.
Our differences no longer determine our value, access, or standing before God.
[d]Group Questions
Read Galatians 3:2–5. Paul asks why they would begin by the Spirit but then try to continue by human effort. What’s the difference between obeying God to earn His acceptance and obeying God because we already have His acceptance in Christ? What other Scriptures help us understand that distinction?
Read Galatians 3:19–24. According to Paul, what is the purpose of the Law if the Law cannot save us? How does the Law reveal our need for Jesus rather than simply give us a list of behaviors to improve?
Read Galatians 3:26–29. Paul moves from talking about faith and grace to talking about our identity as children and heirs. What does this passage say is true about someone who belongs to Christ? How should living as a child of God look different from living as though we are still trying to earn our place in His family?
Shannon said in his message that we sometimes act like employees in our Father’s house. Where in your life are you most tempted to act like an employee in your Father’s house instead of His child? Read Galatians 3:26–29 again. What truth in that passage do you need to believe and live from this week?
Prayer Prompt
Read Galatians 3:13 together: “Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law.” Spend some time thanking Jesus specifically for what He has already accomplished for us. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where you’ve been trying to earn what Jesus has already purchased, and pray for one another to live this week from grace rather than for grace.
