Week 1: Jesus + Nothing
September 3 & 6, 2026
Gospel = Good News = Jesus
The false gospel is Jesus + something.
The true Gospel is Jesus + nothing
The Good News of Jesus really is that simple: We do nothing, He does everything!
The Law = Torah = First part of the Old Testament
We constantly feel the pressure to measure up.
We love to make it about the rules and the law, but it was always about the heart.
Your past doesn't disqualify you from grace, because grace is not based on what you did.
[d]Group Questions
Read Galatians 1:6-9 What are some things people today are tempted to add to Jesus in order to feel accepted by God?
Read Galatians 2:16. Why is it so difficult for us to accept that we can't earn our right standing with God?
Where do you personally feel the pressure to “measure up”?
How is obedience different when the motive comes from trying to earn God's love versus responding to the love God has already given you?
Read Galatians 2:20. What do you think it means practically that “Christ lives in me”? How might that change the way you approach your failures, your past, and your everyday decisions?
If you really believed that Jesus is enough—that you don't have to earn what He has freely given—what is one area of your life where you could stop striving and start trusting Him?
Prayer Prompt
Pray that the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to see if there is any area where we are trying to earn the grace of God instead of receiving it.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to point out any "false gospels" we may believe and replace it with the true Gospel.
