Week 1: Worshipping God with Our Bodies
May 29 & June 1
Your body is God’s design
Our body is part of God’s image on display
Your body is intimately known by God
In Christ, every body will be healed
Christianity doesn’t teach escape from the body, but teaches resurrection of the body… which means your body isn’t disposable… it’s sacred… eternal
What you do with your body is spiritual
How can we worship with our bodies?
Move with gratitude…not guilt
Eat with purpose…not obsession
Rest with trust…not shame
Honor God with your sexuality
Listen with compassion to those who are hurting.
Serve others physically.
What we do with our bodies is worship
[d]Group questions
Read Mark 12:29–31 and Psalm 139:13-16 as a group.
For you personally, what part of your physical life—movement, rest, eating, or sexuality—feels hardest to surrender to God? Why do you think that is?
After reading Psalm 139:13–16. What do you think it means that your body is “fearfully and wonderfully made”? Why does it matter?
How do you think Jesus’ physical resurrection changes how we view our own physical bodies?
What difference does it make that our future isn’t floating spirits, but resurrected, restored bodies?
Read Romans 12:1. What’s one practical way you could worship God with your body this week? Something physical—movement, rest, food, touch, words, service—what’s your next step?
